Module 3 of 7 · 10 min read

Sleep Science & Circadian Biology

The SCN, your body's master clock, and the real hormonal cost of working late or waking early against it.

A 24-hour cycle, not a checklist. The center is the clock itself; the four around it are where the cycle actually costs or pays you back.

Choose a part of the cycle below, or click the diagram, to see the mechanics, where it shows up, and what to do about it.

Sleep isn't one thing

Every other module in this curriculum touches this one. Movement quality, mood, appetite, focus, hormone balance, all of it runs on a clock, and the clock is not a metaphor. It’s an actual cluster of cells in your brain, running on a schedule close to twenty-four hours whether you cooperate with it or not.
