Retirement Income Planning
Project Required Minimum Distributions for any portfolio size and starting age, using the IRS Uniform Lifetime Table and the actual SECURE 2.0 RMD age for your birth year.
What is an RMD, in plain English?
When you save money in accounts like a traditional IRA or 401(k), the IRS lets you skip paying tax on it, for a while. But no tax benefit is free: it always comes with a rule attached. Once you reach a certain age, the IRS says: “It’s time to start taking some of that money out and paying tax on it.” The smallest amount you’re allowed to take out each year is called your Required Minimum Distribution, or RMD. You can always take out more if you want. You just can’t take out less.
Everything here is illustrative. Adjust freely.

Important information
Educational illustration only, not tax or financial advice. RMD divisors come from the IRS Uniform Lifetime Table (Pub. 590-B, Table III), used by the large majority of account owners. RMD start ages follow the SECURE 2.0 Act: age 73 for owners born 1951–1959 and age 75 for owners born 1960 or later. The 72/75 start-age override is a hypothetical for planning purposes, not a claim that the IRS allows you to choose your start age. This tool assumes a constant rate of return, no contributions or withdrawals beyond the RMD itself, and does not account for taxes, IRMAA, state rules, the Joint Life and Last Survivor Table (for a spouse more than 10 years younger), or inherited-account rules. Consult a tax or financial advisor before acting.
